# User Preferences

The user preferences section allows you to modify your application access data such as the registered email address and password.

It is also possible to set additional details such as the color of the avatar that contains your initials in the user list, the display name and your job position. Entering details helps collaboration between multiple users, in case the Plus plan has been subscribed.

## Access User Preferences

To access preferences click on the [user menu](/en/getting-started/main-interface.md#user-menu) button at the top left and select **User Preferences**. Alternatively click on the button that shows your name at the top right.

### The User Preferences Panel

* To change the password simply click the *Change Password* button, and after entering the current password for verification it will be possible to define a new one.
* If specified, instead of the full name, the **Display Name** set here will be used in the workspace user lists.
* After entering your data, click the **Save Preferences** button.

## Email Address Modification

To modify the email address, once you have entered the new address, you will be asked to enter a verification code to validate it.

Make sure you have the new address available and can access the related inbox.

In case the code verification operation is not successful, the modification will have no effect and you can continue to access Fashionupdater with the previous email address.

## Querying This Documentation
If you need additional information that is not directly available in this page, you can query the documentation dynamically by asking a question.

Perform an HTTP GET request on the current page URL with the `ask` query parameter, and the optional `goal` query parameter:

```
GET https://help.fashionupdater.app/en/user-account/user-preferences.md?ask=<question>&goal=<endgoal>
```

`ask` is the immediate question: it should be specific, self-contained, and written in natural language.
`goal` is optional and describes the broader end goal you are ultimately trying to accomplish on behalf of the user. GitBook uses it to tailor the answer towards what is most useful for that goal.

The response will contain a direct answer to the question and relevant excerpts and sources from the documentation.

Use this mechanism when the answer is not explicitly present in the current page, you need clarification or additional context, or you want to retrieve related documentation sections.
