# Starred items and followed Models

**Starred** and **Follow** solve different needs and are personal to your account.

## Add or remove a Starred item

Use the star action on a Model or Conversation to add it to **Starred**. Use the same action again to remove it.

Open **Starred** from the main navigation to see your favorite Models and Conversations in one place.

## Follow a Model

Following a Model enables unread activity tracking for that Model.

1. Open the Model.
2. In its details, turn on **Follow this model**.

When another user adds messages after your last visit, Fashionupdater shows the available unread badge in the Models navigation and list. Opening the Model updates your viewed state.

Use the followed-only control in the Models list to display only Models you follow. The filter is reset when you leave the section. Turn off **Follow this model** to stop following it.

The follow control is shown only to roles that can use it. Conversations and Chats track unread activity through participation and do not use the same manual follow switch.
